Eating Keto? Thai food is a great choice!

Some people who are eating Keto avoid Thai food because they think it includes rice or beans with every meal. But honestly, there are a lot of fantastic Thai dishes that don’t include rice or beans and fit in well with the Keto lifestyle. What are these?

Chicken satay

Chicken satay immediately comes to mind. These skewers of barbecued chicken are perfect for true Ketos, because Thai barbecue food doesn’t contain a lot of sugar like American barbecue food does. Another great Keto choice is chicken lettuce wraps. The oyster mushrooms in these add an amazing earthy flavor and the lettuce wraps ensure they’re suitable for a Keto diet.

Tom Yum and Tom Kha soups

If you are a soup lover, Tom Yum and Tom Kha soups are both Keto-friendly. For a more filling option, you can ask for various meats or seafoods to be added. These aren’t like bland American soups. Thai soups include mushrooms, lemongrass, cilantro, lime leaves, and other spices to add flavor so that they are truly satisfying.

Beef salad

If you are a beef lover, then beef salad is a tasty yet lighter Keto choice, or you can ask to have beef added to dishes such as Pham Thua “Spicy Green Beans”, Spicy Eggplant, Swimming Rama (wok seared spinach topped with homemade peanut sauce) or Rama Jay (steamed mixed vegetables topped with homemade peanut sauce). These are all great Keto choices.

Phad Bai Kaplau

Thai food also offers some great Keto seafood options. Phad Bai Kaplau is stir-fried bell pepper, mushrooms, onions, and sweet basil in garlic sauce. You can ask for prawns to be added to this dish too.

You can also ask for seafood to be added to Cashew Chicken or Phad Prik Khing (stir-fried green beans, shiitake mushrooms, white mushrooms, baby corn, bell peppers, sweet basil, carrot and onion in house made roasted chili sauce).
