Springtime Appetizers: Top 2 Thai Spring Roll Recipes in Thai Restaurants

May 25, 2020
IN Thai Cuisine

Thai food is one of the most well-loved cuisines worldwide.

In Seattle alone, there’s one Thai restaurant for every 50 people. This makes it accessible and convenient, even now, when take-out is taking precedence during our social distancing time.

Why do we love Thai food so much? Well, it’s flavorful, it’s substantial, it’s delicious, and it can be incredibly healthy. This is especially true when it comes to appetizers like spring rolls, which are delicately-wrapped combinations of veggies, spices, and delicious dipping sauces.

So, without further ado, we provide three of the best spring roll recipes out there. You can make them right at home—or you can allow us to make them for you!

1. Traditional Spring Rolls

To create this yummy appetizer, you’ll need some light wonton wrappings, a julienned mix of your favorite veggies, and all your go-to spices. Take this combination and wrap it gently in a wonton wrapper. The standard spring rolls are then deep-fried until the edges are golden brown.

To make it even more authentic, pair it with a plum dipping sauce.

2. A Modern Upgrade: Fresh Rolls

Not all spring rolls have to be deep-fried. If you prefer something fresh and raw, these tofu rolls are right up your alley.

For this version on spring roll recipes, try swapping out wonton wrappings for delicate rice paper. Stuff each one with bean sprouts, green leafy lettuce, and mint leaves for some fun, crisp flavor.

Add shredded carrots and tofu, and you’re all set to enjoy! If you’re not a fan of tofu, leave it out, and choose prawns as a protein instead.

This dish is best paired with a hoisin dipping sauce.
