Whether you’re just getting into Thai food in Seattle or are a seasoned veteran, there are some dishes that you absolutely must try. They’re authentic, tasty, and will broaden your experience and knowledge of Thai food.

Here are the staple dishes to try in Seattle.

Phad Kee Mao

Phad Kee Mao, otherwise known as Drunken Noodles, is a stir-fried noodle dish. It’s one of the best Thai dishes, but beware, as it tends to be spicy!

It’s made with wide rice noodles in a roasted chili sauce and may contain a variety of veggies and protein. The story goes that drunk people in Thailand would try to quench their thirst with this dish before discovering just how spicy it is and regretting their choice!

If you’re one of 62% of people who enjoys spicy food, this is a must-try.

Phad Thai

The most famous authentic Thai food is Phad Thai, another noodle dish. It’s made with thinner rice noodles and includes roasted ground peanuts along with other veggies.

If you’re not into spicy food or don’t have a high tolerance for the heat, Phad Thai is perfect for you as it lacks the intensity of Phad Kee Mao!

Mussamun Curry

Thailand it’s known for its amazing curries, and Seattle Thai food has some of the best on offer. Mussamun Curry is made with coconut milk and can be served with Thai Jasmine white rice or brown rice.

If you’re a curry fanatic, this is the one you have to try first — although Thai food has many great curries on offer. Just be sure to check the spice level, as the curries can get very hot, and you don’t want to be disappointed when the dish is too much for you.

Phak Yahng

Perfect for vegans or those who just love vegetables, Phak Yahng is an underrated dish. It’s barbecue vegetables served with a sriracha chili sauce. Who said vegetables couldn’t be tasty?

If there’s one vegetable you aren’t a fan of, you can always ask the restaurant to leave it out. Don’t let specificities stop you from trying this amazing dish.

Phad Talay

If you’re more of a seafood fan than a veggie lover, what about Phad Talay? This dish combines a lot of different seafood like prawns, mussels, scallops, and calamari with vegetables to create an awesome dish with a bit of a kick to it.

For those who love seafood, this is the perfect meal.
